Until recently I haven't had to do this, but in Notes 6.x & 7.x, I could merge archives.
Here is the situation:
A user has a desktop and a laptop. During the holiday break, they took their laptop home and decided to clean up their mail file with archiving. When they get back to their desktop, they realize their archive doesn't contain all the message they archived over the break.
Previously I would copy the smaller archive, from the laptop, to another folder on the desktop. I would then open the 'secondary' archive, configure the archive settings to point to the existing archive, then archive all documents older than 1 day. This would move the documents from the secondary archive to the primary one, and the user would be happy that all archived documents are in one file.
I am able to get to the archive settings on the archive only by going to the File->Application->Properties->Archive Settings, but there is not "Actions->Archive->Archive Now" menu option.
Can/Should I delete the archive profile document on the secondary archive, to (hopefully) turn it back to what appears to be a regular mail file? Should I then have the menu item for Archive actions?
IMHO: If you can't archive from an archive easily, this was a rather dumb thing to take away, IBM. Archiving to another archive, or merging archives, is something I've used for over 10 years.
